- Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at 3:00 a.m. to start the journey to Humantay Lake.
- 4-hour drive to Soraypampa (3,850 meters above sea level), the campsite for the first day of the Salkantay trek.

- Start the 1.5-hour hike to Humantay Lake, with stunning views of Salkantay and Humantay peaks.
- 20-minute flat trail, followed by an uphill hike to the lake at 4,200 meters.

- Descend back to Soraypampa (1.5 hours), easier than the ascent.
