4-Day Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu: Biking & Hiking Adventure

Day 1: Cusco – Malaga Pass – Santa Maria

Day 1: Cusco – Malaga Pass – Santa Maria

  • Pickup from your hotel at 5:00 am.
  • Drive through the Sacred Valley to Abra Malaga pass (4,350 m).
  • Stop in Ollantaytambo for breakfast and a break.
  • Bike for 3 hours down the Andes, passing streams and scenic viewpoints.
  • Explore small Inca ruins at Huamanmarca.
  • Transfer to Santa Maria for lunch.
  • Rafting on the Urubamba River (Category II and III, 1 hour).
    • Biking distance: 55 km (34.17 mi).
    • Rafting distance: 9 km (5.59 mi).
    • Highest point: 4,350 m (14,271 ft).
    • Lowest point: 1,200 m (3,937 ft).

Day 2: Santa Maria – Hot Springs – Santa Teresa

  • Start hiking at 6:00 am on the Inca Trail.
  • Hike through tropical crops (coca, cocoa, fruits).
  • After 4 hours, reach lunch at Quello Mayo.
  • Continue hiking for 3 more hours to the hot springs of Cocalmayo.
  • Spend the afternoon soaking and swimming in the natural hot springs.
  • Take a van to Santa Teresa for overnight stay.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Hydroeclectric – Aguas Calientes

  • Breakfast and drive to the zipline base camp.
  • Enjoy a thrilling 6-section zipline, spanning 2.5 km (1.5 mi).
  • Drive to the hydroelectric station for lunch.
  • Hike along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes (arrive around 5:00 pm).
  • Stay overnight in Aguas Calientes and have dinner.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Early morning bus to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise.
  • 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu.
  • Option to hike Huayna Picchu (separate ticket $65).
  • Return to Aguas Calientes and take a train to Ollantaytambo.
  • Bus back to Cusco and transfer to your hotel.
